2007: Record Breaking Year in Cleantech Investing

2007 was a record breaking year for cleantech investing. How big? Well depends on who you ask. A recent report from Cleantech reveals that VC investments in North America and Europe totaled $5.18 billion for the year. A big increase from the $3.6 billion the firm reported for 2006, and the $2.5 billion for 2005. The average deal size in North American also increased, up 20 percent from 2006.

So there’s lots of money to spend, and growing interest in green deals. But with so many new companies in this space, the big challenge will be in identifying the winning business models. What do you think? Who will be the big cleantech winners in 2008?
