Kyoto Planet at the London International Film Festival

25 October 07

Kyoto Planet is excited to be one of the main sponsors at The Times BFI 51st London Film Festival - the first start-up business to do so in the festival’s long and illustrious history. Kyoto Planet is hosting the UK premiere of Sean Penn’s new directorial feature, "Into The Wild." This powerful new film profiles a young man’s journey across America and his exploration of the fragile balance between man and nature, while also serving as a timely reminder of the care we must take in our relationship with the planet.

Damien Reynolds, Kyoto Planet's Founder and Chairman, states: "London moviegoers happen to be some of the most eco-savvy film-watchers in the world. It feels right then that Kyoto Planet should seed their forthcoming European launch here at the London Film Festival. Kyoto Planet is looking forward to helping Londoners make a positive change in their lives."

Kyoto Planet firmly believes that big changes can come about when everyone participates. The UK’s high-profile role in the global environmental movement, as well as London’s pre-eminence on the film festival circuit, aptly qualifies the London Film Festival as a natural milieu for Kyoto Planet's first introduction to the European community.

Fittingly, Brits are also some of the most eco-enlightened worldwide, with ethical consumerism the hottest buzzword of 2007. Successive Prime Ministers Blair and Brown have consistently pressed for the Kyoto Protocol to become a just and effective reality – working hard to enlist countries like the US and Australia, as well as overseeing fair adaptation for industrialising countries like India and China.

Kyoto Planet is a new eco-conscious company with three distinct but interrelated parts: a financial vehicle to support and facilitate investment in, and management of, business opportunities in the green sector; a foundation to award grants and manage the non-profit portion of the company’s business; and a consumer company grounded by a broad portal to serve as the pre-eminent marketplace for knowledge, ideas, discussion and goods and services in the environmental space.
